Selena Gomez Performs At Teen Choice Awards [VIDEO & PHOTOS]
Selena Gomez and The Scene graced the stage Sunday night at the Teen Choice Awards. The young singer and her band performed their latest single, "Love You Like A Love Song," at the Gibson Amphitheatre. The audience was on their feet clapping as she sung her tune. Dancing with the rest of the crowd was Selena's boyfriend, Justin Bieber, and Demi Lovato, in her first award show since her three-month rehab visit and public meltdown.
Selena and The Scene put on a fun show--complete with flashing lights and background dancers, but the singer appeared nervous. Of course, who wouldn't be, she was performing in front of thousands of fans and celebrities, including close friends. After the performance, Selena and her band took home an award for Choice Music Group, Choice Music Single: "Who Says," and Choice Music Love Song: "Love You Like a Love Song."
The band is currently on tour to promote their album: "When the Sun Goes Down." "I wanted to create a whole different kind of fun sound when it came to the lyrics. The lyrics are a lot more cheeky on this album...and the music's really fun," Gomez said to Billboard.com recently.
Selena also expressed how she would like to change the subject matters she sings about. Instead of serious and sad break-up songs, she plans to make more records along the lines of her top hits, "Naturally" and "Who Says." "It's a really empowering record and that's just more of the place I was in, so I wanted it to be really powerful and to be something that was inspiring," says Gomez.
Gomez describes the the tour as "very different." "We're dividing [the stage] into four sections," Gomez claimed. "We're going to have wardrobe changes. There's going to be dancers -- I will not be dancing most of the time. They'll just be back there getting the crowd pumped up. We're going to have fun screens in the background. It's just gonna be a huge party. I wanted to make it like a PG-13 rave."
