Selena Gomez is one of the most talented musicians out there. Songs like “Lose You To Love Me,” “Bad Liar,” and “Fetish” don’t only prove that she is a terrific singer but also highlights her writing prowess. But there is one track that Gomez feels she would have wanted to write during her illustrious career.
Speaking in an interview with Capital FM, the 27-year-old songstress revealed that she is a huge fan of fellow musician Adele and would have loved to write the song “Hello” because of all the emotions the lyrics possess.
When asked which song she wishes she had written, Gomez quickly replied that her dream would be to write Adele’s gigantic hit “Hello” or “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” which has also been sung by the “Rolling In The Deep” hitmaker.
“I would have wanted to do either 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)' or 'Hello,'" Gomez said.
However, later she clarified that she would not even dare to “touch” an Adele song in her entire life. “Will never touch an Adele song in my life. I would never try to sing it,” Gomez said.
“Hello” turned out to be one of the massive hits for Adele, selling almost 12.5 million copies in 2015, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time. The track also took home three Grammy awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Later in the discussion, the “Good For You” singer also admitted that she doesn’t have a song that reminds her of being in “love.” She also stated that Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” is the first song that she loved the most.
“I don’t know if I have one [love song]. Yeah, I do not think I have one,” Gomez said.
Gomez is currently riding high on the success of her new album “Rare.” The album has received universal acclaim from critics as well as fans. Rolling Stone said that her third solo album is an “act of divine ruthlessness” and gave it four stars out of five. The song “Vulnerable” is turning out to be a rage among people and social media is buzzing with the reactions to that particular song.
Gomez further stated that she always wanted to make songs that can make people feel good about themselves and she thinks the album has managed to do just that.
“I wanted a record that made people feel something. Whether that was a hard relationship to get through or gaining your confidence back. So there are different layers to it, and I am so grateful that it ended up becoming what it is now,” Gomez said.
