Selena Gomez Showcases The New Must-Have Hair Trend In London

Selena Gomez has made a major change to her hair. The performer stepped out in London on Wednesday sporting blunt bangs. She paired her new hair with a furry zebra-patterned jacket, a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and black-rimmed sunglasses.

According to Elle, this is the first time in a while that Gomez has stepped out in bangs, though it is unclear whether they are clip-in bangs or the real deal.

While the look may appear new to Gomez, Glamour recalls Gomez sported bangs for the first time (as a celebrity) in 2007. They were side bangs and a then-popular go-to look for teen girls.

It didn’t stop there, the singer and actress has also worn bangs on and off from 2008 to 2018, switching between her classic side bangs and blunt bangs.

Gomez has now joined the slew of celebrities making bangs the latest hairstyle.

Gwen Stefani had bangs during an episode of “The Voice” on Nov. 19. Actors Sandra Oh and Constance Wu were both photographed at the 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards sporting bangs (Oh’s hair was cut by celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson). Country singer Kasey Musgraves also had bangs at her Amazon Prime Christmas show launch party on Nov. 19.

Celebrity chef Martha Stewart even is trying out the style via her recent Instagram post that features her with curtain bangs.

Last month, Gibson told Us Weekly why bangs are so popular right now.

“Bangs go in and out of style, but, right now for makeup looks — especially those surrounding the red carpet — the focus is on the eyes and bangs help frame and accentuate this feature,” he said. “I think a softer bang is on-trend right now. The ideal look offers a soft sexiness and overall fun and flirty vibe.”
