Chrishell Stause is opening up about her ex-husband Justin Hartley and her mother Ranae's battle with lung cancer in her new book.
In her new memoir "Under Construction," the "Selling Sunset" star claimed that the "This Is Us" actor was not on great terms with her mom and that he did not reach out to her after Ranae died.
Recalling a time when her sister asked if she'd heard from Hartley following their mother's passing, Stause wrote in her book, "I told her that he hadn't, and that I wasn't really expecting him to, but that it was okay because mom never liked [him] anyway," according to People.
"The funny thing is my mom never even liked Justin," she continued. "She'd never seen any of his shows, and she'd only watched a few episodes of 'Selling Sunset,' so she just lived in a different world and was not won over by someone's celebrity. At the end of the day, she just cared about how someone treated her daughter."
The "Days of Our Lives" alum also shared that her mom would call Hartley "Jacob," confessing that she wasn't sure if Ranae had done it as a dig toward her former husband.
Stause revealed the news of her mother's death via Instagram in July 2020, posting clips and photos with Ranae as well as penning a lengthy caption detailing her heartbreak and grief.
"In disbelief that you are gone," the TV personality wrote. "Feeling just about every emotion, but I find comfort knowing Dad is up there taking care of you and showing you the ropes like only he could. Absolutely heartbreaking watching you take your last labored breath, but there is a peace knowing you two are together again, free from the pain that plagued your time here."
Stause and Hartley tied the knot in 2017 but separated around two years later after Hartley filed for divorce in November 2019. Their divorce was finalized last year.
Shortly after their separation, the actor started dating his former co-star Sofia Pernas. Stause told People that she was "heartbroken" over how quickly he moved on.
News that Hartley had married Pernas broke in May 2021. The pair first met on the set of "The Young and the Restless," where they worked together from 2015 to 2016. Stause was also part of the show, and she and Hartley were together at the time.
After news of their marriage reached Stause, the real estate agent admitted that "a lot of things made sense" to her.
"I wish them the best," Stause said in an episode of "Selling Sunset" Season 4 released in November 2021. "You know, I think that it actually, if anything, it felt good to know that. It felt like a little bit of closure."
Stause, for her part, went on to date her on-screen boss Jason Oppenheim, but they split in December last year. According to Stause, they called it quits because of their differing opinions on starting a family.
