‘Sesame Street’ Parody ‘Orange Is The New Snack’ Released Ahead Of ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Premiere
“Sesame Street” just released an adorable and hilarious parody of “Orange Is The New Black,” titled “Orange Is The New Snack.”
In the clip, a character named Piper Snackman, seemingly Piper Chapman’s (Taylor Schilling) counterpart, is sent to Litchfield Academy. While there, she meets her classmates for the first time, and one of them looks exactly like Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren (Uzo Aduba).
The five-minute clip opens with an impressive credit similar to the opening credits of the hit Netflix original series. Even the theme song of “Orange Is The New Black” was replicated in terms of sound, but the lyrics were changed to fit the title “Orange Is The New Snack.”
When the head staff introduces Piper to the rest of the students at Litchfield Academy, she praises each of them and says that their uniforms look interesting. After the brief introduction, the head staff asks everyone to sit and Googly Eyes invites Piper to sit beside her.
Immediately after settling down, the students are informed that it’s time for them to have a snack. A red-head puppet that resembles Galina “Red” Reznikov (Kate Mulgrew) enters the classroom and hands out cookies to the students. But when Red gave Piper a cookie, she refuses to accept it. Piper tells everyone that she brought her own healthy snack and opens her lunchbox that contains three oranges.
Googly Eyes thought that Piper brought balls to the school and started playing with it. The staff urges everyone to settle down or otherwise he will give them a timeout. At this point, Googly Eyes gives Piper back the oranges, but she still thinks they are toys. Piper tells her no, but Morello, Lorna Morello’s (Yael Stone) lookalike, says that the orange is her boyfriend, Christopher.
In the end, Piper was able to teach everyone the importance of eating fruits on a regular basis. And “Orange Is The New Snack” ended with a valuable lesson for the viewers.
“Orange Is The New Black” is set to premiere on Netflix on June 9. All of the upcoming episodes will take place within a three-day period right after Poussey’s (Samira Wiley) shocking demise.
