Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will be returning to the U.S. on Friday, about two weeks after he was rescued from the Taliban in exchange for five high-level Guantanamo Bay detainees in a prisoner swap that has stoked controversy.
An unidentified Defense Department official told the Associated Press on Thursday that Berghdal will return to an Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he'll be reuniting with his family.
Since his release late last month, Bergdahl has been receiving treatment at the U.S. military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany.
