‘Shadowhunters’ Season 2 Spoilers: Jace, Maia Criticized By Fans Due To Their Lack Of Chemistry?

“Shadowhunters” Season 2 recently introduced a new, but very odd pairing between Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and Maia (Alisha Wainwright).

In episode 13, titled “Those of Demon Blood,” Jace and Maia spent most of the hour getting into each other’s nerves. They also struggled to agree over the Inquistor’s new arrest-innocent-Downworlder’s policy. However, the two characters seemed to set their differences aside when they started hooking up with each other. In one of the scenes, Jace and Maia undressed each other at the back of alley, and it’s possible that they ended up having sex.

Despite their sweet moment, TV Line is speculating on the possibility that Jace and Maia are just “using” each other. It’s well-known that Jace has feelings for Clary (Katherine McNamara), while Maia has feelings for Simon (Alberto Rosende). Unfortunately, both Clary and Simon are not available at the moment, so Jace and Maia could also be using each other to keep themselves preoccupied.

As of late, Clary and Simon don’t have a clue that something happened between Jace and Maia, and it’s possible that they will have very strong reactions against it. Some fans are also saying that Jace and Maia lack chemistry, but this isn’t exactly surprising since Maia herself said that what she did with Jace meant nothing to her.

Elsewhere in the episode, Jace also struggled with his position as head of the New York Institute. Unfortunately, he gave up the title almost immediately to Alec (Matthew Daddario). Additionally, Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) also stayed loyal to Alec despite all of the opportunities presented to him to encourage cheating. Towards the end of the episode, Magnus decided to be a “one soul at a time” kind of warlock to ensure his relationship with Alec will last for as long as possible.

But what Magnus doesn’t know is that if he’s been very loyal to Alec, the latter almost exchanged a kiss with someone else. However, Alec has decided to keep it a secret from him. But sooner or later, the truth will come out, and this could risk their relationship, as well as Magnus’ promise of being a “one soul at a time” kind of warlock.
