‘Shadowhunters’ Season 2 Spoilers: Which Character Will Die In Episode 20? [WATCH]

“Shadowhunters” Season 2, episode 20 will see Clary (Katherine McNamara), Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and the rest of their peers saying goodbye to at least one character.

In the teaser released by Freeform for Monday night’s episode, an emotional Clary breaks down in tears at the sight of the unknown character’s lifeless body.

While speaking with TV Guide, McNamara opened up about the tragic ending of Season 2 and what is in store for the characters in Season 3. “You’ve definitely seen one major death, but we’re still a long way from the finish line. Stay on your toes, grab some tissues, grab some comfort food of your choice. This finale is brutal, you’re going to need it,” she explained.

Previously, Clary found out that the villainous Sebastian, who also happens to be Clary’s brother, Jonathan (Will Tudor), has died. However, it’s also possible that he’s still alive. According to McNamara, Clary will be conflicted over Jonathan’s “death” since he is still her brother no matter how evil he has become.

“The fact that Clary’s lost her mother and Valentine will never truly be the father that she needs – Clary has no biological family left. Regardless of her resentment towards Jonathan and the fact that he tried to kill her and all of that, it’s still her family. There will always be a scar on her heart from losing them,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Clary and Jace would also have to make a stand in episode 20. In the previous episode, the two shared a kiss, but Clary told Jace afterward that this didn’t mean anything to her. In the sneak peek released by the network, Clary and Jace will spend some time with each other. They will talk about the fate of their relationship and figure out what’s best for the both of them.

According to McNamara, Clary and Jace will be on the same page when it comes to exploring the future of their relationship in “Beside Still Water.” “There’s a kind of beauty in that, but also we saw in episode 19 there’s an immense power in that too. When the two of them combine and allow their emotions to access their angelic abilities, they can literally accomplish the impossible,” she said.
