  • Former boxing champ Shane Mosley open to fight Conor McGregor
  • Mosley impressed by McGregor's 40-second TKO win over Cowboy Cerrone
  • Oscar De La Hoya doesn't want McGregor to fight in boxing again

Former welterweight champ Shane Mosley said he’s down to fight UFC star Conor McGregor.

Ever since he’s impressive comeback win at UFC 246 against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, McGregor has been linked to another pro boxing match. This time, the UFC star is eyeing for a megafight with eight-division title holder Manny Pacquiao.

But aside from Pacquiao, there are other boxing champs who are ready to fight McGregor as well. This includes boxers who are already past their prime such as Mosley.

In a brief talk with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Mosley gave McGregor props for his 40-second TKO win over Cerrone. Mosley even commended McGregor’s new trick in which he called “the shoulder thing.”

“Conor fought a good fight. I was like ‘damn!’ I was very impressed by the way he jumped up and kicked him and get him with the shoulder thing,” Mosley said.

When asked if he will be down to fight McGregor now that the former UFC champ is opting for another boxing match, Mosley confidently said “yeah” before lauding McGregor’s performance once again.

“Oh yeah! I’m ready to fight anybody but I must say Conor did a great job,” Mosley said when asked about a fight with McGregor.

Last year, at some point during another interview with EsNews, Mosley looked back at the epic Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight. As Mosley recalled the moment, he revealed that he has already called out McGregor in the past. However, Mosley believed that nothing came to fruition as McGregor was looking to get paid big time and chose to fight Mayweather which was totally fine with him.

“I remember I called him out too, I called Conor McGregor out too. (but) he wanted Mayweather which I can see (why),” Mosley said.

A fight between Mosley and McGregor might never happen in the future. However, no one can argue that Mosley vs. McGregor would be a huge hit if the former boxing champ was a few years younger.

Meanwhile, another boxing great Oscar De La Hoya recently commented on McGregor’s plan to fight Paacquiao and Mayweather. According to De La Hoya, McGregor is a great MMA fighter but he wouldn’t be able to do the shoulder thing in boxing.

De La Hoya further stated that McGregor should “stay in his own lane” and not mess with boxing champs again.

“In my opinion, just stay in our own lane,” De La Hoya said about McGregor calling out Pacquiao and Mayweather.
