'Sharknado 3' Star David Hasselhoff Says 'Oh Hell No!' Is 'Worst Movie You Have Ever Seen'; Reveals Franchise Secret
Actors do not usually talk trash about their own movies, but Syfy’s “Sharknado” franchise does everything a little differently. When asked about the upcoming third installment – “Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!” – actor David Hasselhoff called it “the worst movie you have ever seen.” However, Hasselfhoff means that as a compliment.
The interesting comment came during an interview on HuffPost Live where a fan asked Hasselhoff about his experience working on the “greatest made for TV franchise of all time.” Hasselhoff simply followed the fan’s lead with his hyperbolic response.
"You know, it's the worst movie you have ever seen," said the former “Baywatch” and “America’s Got Talent” star. "The first one was the worst. The second one I think was even worse than the first. I'm so honored to be in ‘Sharknado 3.’"
Hasselhoff, who plays franchise star Ian Ziering’s father in the upcoming movie, went on to reveal that the trick to making "Sharknado" work -- which is famous for its cheesy action and ridiculous plot twists and cameos -- is to play it straight.
“If you play it real, with all the crazy, stupid shark stuff going on, it really works!" Hasselhoff explained. "The kids will watch it because they think it's real, and the adults will watch it because they're in on the joke! It's just a perfect scenario. The straighter you play it and the more you believe it, the funnier it is."

Hasselhoff will be joined by a whole score of celebrities in cameo roles in "Sharknado 3." Appearances include Jerry Springer, Michelle Bachmann, Mark Cuban, Ann Coulter and Bo Derek. This time the – scientifically questionable “Sharknado” storm will hit Washington D.C. in what should be Syfy's most absurd movie yet.
Will “Sharknado 3” be as hilariously bad as Hasselhoff says? Fans will have to wait to see. The Syfy original movie is set to premiere on July 22 at 9 p.m. EDT.
