Shawn Mendes Reveals Age He Lost His Virginity

Shawn Mendes recently revealed that he lost his virginity at the age of 16.

The singer sat down for an interview on “The Edge” in New Zealand on Friday where he was asked to answer some controversial questions. The “Treat You Better” did not shy away from sharing intimate details about his life, but he refused to identify the woman he lost his virginity to. When asked for the age of the oldest woman he has ever been with, Mendes said 25.

But last year, the 19-year-old singer told Billboard that he’s not had sex for quite some time due to his busy schedule. Mendes also dished on the meaning of his song, “Patience,” and revealed how it’s connected to sex, relationships and dating.

“It’s about a girl older than me who I hooked up with, but the next day was so scared because of how young I was. Being a sex symbol isn’t cool unless you’re in love with a girl and she calls you a sex symbol,” he said.

But when he was asked to name the last celebrity he kissed, the singer refused to “kiss and tell.” Unfortunately, Mendes has not officially dated anyone recently. During his interview last year, he said, “The second I feel about a girl the way I feel about music is when I know.”

Meanwhile, prior to his trip to New Zealand to promote his tour, the “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” singer joked about finding a girlfriend in the country. “I would definitely find a New Zealand girlfriend. I just don’t know where they are. I haven’t seen any,” he said. But the singer will only be in New Zealand for three days, which may not be enough time for him to find love.

Mendes also told his followers on Twitter that he will be the one to tell them directly if he’s seeing anyone. He told E! News at the American Music Awards that he’s currently single. But when asked what he looks for in a woman, he said, “Humor. Humor is my number one thing.”
