Meme cryptocurrency Shiba Inu has entered the fashion world after partnering with famous label John Richmond.
In a tweet posted on Feb. 28, Shiba Inu's official handle said, "Announcement: @JRichmondstyle x @Shibtoken just in time for fashion week! John Richmond partners with Shiba Inu for a cutting-edge fashion collaboration!"
The collaboration involves issuing some 10,000 John Richmond and Shiba Inu NFTs. SHIB and John Richmond could also stage fashion presentations in Milan, Italy.
Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, said in a separate tweet, "Another powerful partnership by SHIB. This one will change the #fashion industry forever. Much more details to follow! #shibarmy."
A spokesperson from John Richmond said in a recorded session published on March 1, "It is interesting for a fashion brand to collaborate with something that is normally digital and a little bit far from our world. We are a very physical world with our clothing with our shoes with our bags, so you know this is quite exciting."
Shiba Inu surged after the reveal of the news. As of 3.17 a.m. ET, the meme token traded 2.34% higher at $0.00002654, CoinMarketCap data showed.
Last month, Shiba Inu trifecta debuted on Mover's Metaverse debit card, allowing customers to shop globally using the tokens.
SHIB is also widely adopted globally, with major retailers and brands, including GameStop welcoming the meme-based crypto as a means of payment.
