Shonda Rhimes Reacts To #TGIT Getting Delayed For A Week Because Of Donald Trump Special: ‘I’m Fine With Whatever They Want To Do’
Fans of TV shows created and produced by Shonda Rhimes were disappointed to learn that their favorite #TGIT lineup – “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How To Get Away With Murder” -- was delayed by one week because of a Donald Trump pre-inauguration special.
The three series were scheduled to air on Thursday, Jan. 19, but now has been delayed to Thursday, Jan. 26 in order to make room for “America’s First Family: The Trumps Go To Washington.”
How does Shonda Rhimes feel about the delay?
“I just think that ABC does its programming,” Rhimes told TVLine on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, “I’m not in charge of scheduling. I’m fine with whatever they want to do. It has nothing to do with my job. I stay in my lane.”
The 46-year-old American television producer added, “I honestly don’t have anything to do with programming or scheduling, and don’t pay attention to it or spend very much time caring about it.”
When the website asked her about the phone call she may have received informing her about the delay of her three shows, Rhimes maintained, “I am not going to comment on conversations I’ve had with my bosses, because I like my job.”
“Scandal” Season 6 premiere, “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 3, episode 10 and “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13, episode 10 will now premiere on Jan. 26 at 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively.
A lot of fans weren’t happy with the rescheduling. Check out some of the reactions below:
While “Scandal” is set to premiere its new season, “How To Get Away With Murder” still has to solve the question: Who killed Wes (Alfred Enoch)? Additionally, in “Grey’s Anatomy,” Alex (Justin Chambers) was contemplating taking a plea deal after learning that Jo (Camilla Luddington) is running from her abusive, estranged husband.
Tune in to #TGIT episodes on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
