A U.K. court found a brother and sister guilty of manslaughter Tuesday after they shoved chicken kebab meat into the mouth of a drunk football fan coming home from a game who later died.

David Clark, 56, was asleep on a train to Barrow in March 2019 when 34-year-old David Noble and his 24-year-old sister, Nicole Cavin, pushed a chunk of meat the "size of a golf ball" into Clark's mouth, Sky News reported.

Clark, a married father with kids, reportedly vomited and woke up but collapsed as he tried to stand up. He was taken to the hospital but died the next day. An examination revealed that he had choked to death.

When Cavin, a carer by profession, was asked in the trial if she had done anything that could have caused harm to Clark, the woman said, "No. Only removing the food from his mouth," The Mail reported.

"I feel like I might have pushed it further down by accident. I don't know," Cavin added.

A jury in the Nightingale court at Preston North End football club found the two guilty after a two-week trial. Noble, of Grange-Over-Sands, and Cavin, of Flookburgh, had tried to deny the charges. They will be sentenced at a later date.

"We are pleased that the case has finally been brought to a conclusion," Detective Sergeant Gemma Jones of the British Transport Police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve May, for his part, said, "This was an unusual and highly complex legal case and I commend the courage of those witnesses who came forward and provided statements and those who attended court to give evidence."

"The dignity and composure of Mr. Clark's family has been exemplary throughout and I hope they can take some comfort in the knowledge justice has been done," May was quoted by Sky News as saying.

Clark was described by his family as a "loving husband, father, brother and friend and a popular character in the local community."

"His death has left a large void in our lives," the family said.
