'Sifu' Gets New Content Roadmap For 2022

The third-person action-brawler “Sifu” by Sloclap Games is getting even more free updates later this year following a roadmap reveal, with the next addition coming as early as next week.

The roadmap features four updates scheduled for each season this year, according to the developers’ post on Twitter.

On May 3, “Sifu” is getting even more difficulty options as well as an advanced training feature and outfit selector as part of this content rollout. These new features are being released as part of the celebration for the release of “Sifu’s” physical edition.

As for the Summer update, Sloclap will be adding an “Advanced Scoring” system that should encourage players to try out some new playstyles or approaches to the game’s limited list of levels. The post didn’t specify how this scoring might work, unfortunately, so fans will have to wait for an official announcement when summertime comes.

Summer will also see the inclusion of gameplay modifiers. A bunch of possible options are scrawled on a piece of paper on the dev post, including “No Pendant,” “One Health Point” and “Bullet Time.” It’s good to see that not all modifiers are meant to boost the game’s difficulty, similar to fun-focused “mutators” in other games.

Meanwhile, on top of more modifiers and outfits, the Fall update has only one major addition: a Replay Editor. The post is vague about what this new feature could be, but the image includes two strips of film with negative images of the protagonist in different combat stances.

This feature could mean that players will be able to take cinematic clips of their “Sifu” runs in the future, which is surely a step above the standard Photo Mode included in many other games.

Lastly, the Winter update will be bringing an Arenas mode to the game, which could be similar to an endless horde mode where players can compete against each other on a worldwide leaderboard. The image shows a photo of the Nightclub level and a map with three locations. Arenas mode will also come with one last wave of new modifiers and outfits for the year.
