Omarion has a funny response to the jokes comparing his stage name to the Omicron coronavirus variant.

The 37-year-old R&B singer shared a TikTok video on Saturday to address jokes about his name sounding somewhat similar to the highly contagious variant.

"Hi everybody, this is Omarion. I am an artist, not a variant," he said in the TikTok video on New Year's Day. User @tobirachel shared the video on Twitter.

"So please be aware, just so if you just so happen to run into me on the street, you don't have to isolate for five days, nor do you have to have a negative test result in order to dance to my music," Omarion joked in the clip.

Born Omari Ishmael Grandberry, Omarion started his career as a member of the boyband B2K (Boys of the New Millennium of the "Y2K" era). When the band split, he went on to pursue a solo career and released six solo albums, with two of them – "O" and "21" – landing at No. 1 on Billboard 200. He recently teamed up with fellow R&B artists Bow Wow and Soulja Boy for the single "EX."

The "Post To Be" artist had previously condemned a racist joke comparing his name to the aggressive COVID-19 variant.

"I can't stand y'all. Happy Holidays. Sea moss up. Base up. Sun light up. Sending love & healing energy to all. #Omicron not #Omarion," he wrote on Twitter on Christmas Day.

The singer sent a video to the Twitter page of ABC's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" on Saturday reiterating the same message but with a twist.

"I know there has been a lot of confusion online recently, so my lawyers asked me to read this," he began. "I, Omarion, am a musician and entertainer — you knew that — not a variant, okay. The last time I had to do this was in 2000 when everyone confused Y2K with B2K. That ain't how it's supposed to be, but seriously, I want to wish you all a happy and safe new year. Peace."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns the public to be extra cautious saying that the Omicron variant spreads easily compared to the original COVID-19 virus.
