KEY POINTS

  • The Sixers could get another veteran enforcer in Markieff Morris
  • Philadelphia can offer Morris a chance to play for his hometown
  • The Nets are also seen as a possible destination for the NBA veteran

The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets appear to be ready for the 2022-23 NBA season with their current roster.

However, adding more players who can play integral roles could bolster the campaigns of both NBA squads.

One name that remains available in the market is Markieff Morris.

The 32-year-old played for the Miami Heat last season, averaging 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 17 games.

He suffered a neck injury and miss several months before returning to action, but he was cleared to play only last March.

On the part of the Sixers, the only way they may be able to sign Morris is if the 6-foot-9 forward agrees to a much lower deal.

The same may hold for Brooklyn, but the fact that NBA veteran hails from Philadelphia could be a difference-maker.

Morris could be a quality addition to the Sixers behind Joel Embiid and James Harden.

With an emphasis on defense and being a locker room presence, his veteran smarts are something that Sixers coach Doc Rivers could put to good use.

Moreover, he becomes another veteran presence alongside P.J. Tucker.

The case is not that different over in Brooklyn.

With Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons in the fold, head coach Steve Nash could get a gem of a role player in Markieff Morris as well.
