‘Sleepy Hollow’
What would have happened to Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Diana (Janina Gavankar) had FOX renewed “Sleepy Hollow” for Season 5? FOX

Sleepy Hollow” Season 5 won’t air on FOX after it was canceled last month, but cast member Janina Gavankar recently shared some exciting storylines they would have explored had the series been picked up.

While speaking with TV Line, the actress said that she doesn’t think the series finale was the best way to end “Sleepy Hollow.” “Crane is off in Washington D.C. He’s really found his footing. Jenny and he have found a new home there. He and Diana are going off strong, taking down a kraken, of all things,” she recounted.

Gavankar added that the mythical sea beast would have played a huge part in the premiere episode for Season 5.

Additionally, Gavankar revealed that there have been some discussions on whether or not Lara (Seychelle Gabriel) would be part of the upcoming episodes. The character was first introduced as a time-traveling woman from the future last season. “Nobody told me the answer, but they were deciding whether or not Lara – older Molly – was going to be part of the cast and all the stories. I wanted to know what happened to my baby daddy. Did we call to tell him, ‘It’s OK, we know that you’re not a werewolf?’” she said.

Meanwhile, the actress, who played the role of Diana, also shared one of the things that she loved most about “Sleepy Hollow.” According to the actress, the once-hit FOX series featured a lot of female characters. This is something that not a lot of shows in the United States have. “I loved that about the show and I hope many, many more will follow suit,” she said.

“Sleepy Hollow” was not picked up by FOX for Season 5 because of its disappointing ratings. In Season 1, the Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie-starrer was a huge hit among fans, but its ratings quickly declined in Season 2. In Season 3, Beharie shockingly left the franchise, and this didn’t do the show any favors when it came to viewership. FOX still gave “Sleepy Hollow” another chance with Season 4, which served as a reboot. Gavankar and Oona Yaffee were introduced in the show, but the ratings still did not improve.
