A Barnstable, Massachusetts, woman was shocked when she spotted a snake in her bathroom sink Tuesday. Police were called to the home at Stevens Street at around midnight after someone reported a “boa or python type” snake.

Authorities responded to the scene and told local media that the snake most likely escaped from another apartment in the woman’s building and made its way into the plumbing. The snake was taken out of the bathroom and put in a box and later the town’s Department of Natural Resources picked it up. So far, no one has claimed ownership of the snake, local media reported.

Most recently, there have been several incidents when snakes, including huge pythons, were found inside the apartments of people baffling residents.

Earlier this month, a huge python was found slithering out of a bathroom light at a home in Brisbane, Queensland. The 5-foot-long snake was spotted by two kids who were brushing their teeth before bed. The youngsters were horrified when they saw the python dangling from the ceiling. Snake catcher Bryce Lockett was called to remove the reptile from the bathroom.

“I’ve been catching snakes for about seven years now, I’ve seen them all in various situations," Lockett said, according to U.K.'s the Sun. “People are generally quite terrified of them but I’ve owned snakes my whole life so I’m not too fazed... Carpet pythons are nocturnal and coldblooded, which is why this one must have slithered down to enjoy the heat of the lamp - they’re harmless but they don’t like to be disturbed.”
