Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel Dating Taylor Swift? Duo Spotted Spending New Year's Eve Together
Rumor has it that Snapchat co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel has recently started dating chart-topping pop sensation Taylor Swift.
LaineyGossip was the first to report the rumored new courtship Thursday, claiming that the singer was spotted “spending time” with the social media mogul at a New Year’s party. “Taylor was at a party with Spiegel over the holidays, and it was understood that they were checking each other. Nothing overt but my sources say there’s no doubt she was there with him and for him and that they’re seeing each other casually…so far,” reads the original report. Despite the claims, a rep for the 24-year-old Swift is singing a different tune.
The publicist did confirm that Swift attended the same party as the 23-year-old Snapchat CEO, but the rep immediately shut down claims that they might be an item. “Taylor Swift's publicist says that while Swift was at the party, she is not dating Spiegel,” reads the LaineyGossip report, adding, “My sources, however, stand by their side of the story.”
According to a separate report from GossipCop.com, Swift attended the party with a group of friends and left said party with the same individuals, not including Spiegel. An insider close to the “I Knew You Were Trouble" singer even went on to tell the site that all reports of their alleged relationship are “totally fabricated.”
Unfortunately for fans excited by the rumors of a courtship, and despite the nature of Spiegel’s business (a social media app that allows users to send and share photos), there is no photographic evidence of the pair’s alleged holiday “date.”
Earlier this month, Forbes magazine featured Spiegel on the cover of its 2014 “30 under 30” issue.
In recent months Swift has been romantically linked to her "The Giver" co-star, 37-year-old "True Blood" actor Alexander Skarsgard. The co-stars fueled relationship rumors after photographers spotted them leaving a restaurant in Cape Town, South Africa, while on location there in October.
