Snapdragon 865 Specs Leak: Better, Faster With 5G Support
Tech giant Qualcomm’s upcoming chipset, the new Snapdragon flagship SoC, has its specs and details allegedly leaked. Based on the leak, users can expect better and faster performance from the new chipset, and of course, support for the new 5G technology.
In a leak revealed by a Chinese tipster to Playful Droid, it was tipped that the new Snapdragon chipset, expected to be called the Snapdragon 865, will be coming as an octa-core chipset. This will be composed of one ARM Cortex A77 as the main core, clocked at 2.84 GHz. This is supported by three more A77 cores running at a little slower frequency at 2.4 GHz. Finally, there are four ARM Cortex A5 cores running at 1.8 GHz.
Not much has been said about the GPU side, though. What is expected as of now is that it will be called the Adreno 650.
The Snapdragon 865 is said to be able to perform at least 20 percent faster than Snapdragon 855 CPUs and at least 17 percent to 20 percent faster GPU performance as compared to the current Adreno 640.
It is also expected that it will be able to support LPDDR5 RAM, which means that users can expect new flagships next year to come in with yet more RAM capacity. Support for 5G mobile network technology is another thing that is expected.
While it is expected that some of next year’s flagship devices will be running on the new Snapdragon chipset, it has long been rumored that Chinese luxury phone brand 8848 will be the first one to release a smartphone with the new chipset on it. This is expected to be the 8848 Titanium M6 5G smartphone.
Qualcomm is expected to reveal more details about their new chipset during their Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019, which will kick off this coming December 3rd.
