Sniper Charged in 2010 Slaying
After more than a year, police have finally found a suspect that may be responsible for the September 2010 murder of Jorge Martinez, a bread deliveryman from Brooklyn.
Anthony Martinez (no relation) was extradited to New York on Thursday from Puerto Rico after police were tipped off to his involvement in the murder. He has been charged with the murder of Jorge Martinez. Police believe that Martinez is only one of the three men involved with the slaying.
Jorge, 39, was hit by a bullet that pierced through his delivery truck as he was driving down on Avenue X. Police reports showed that one of the bullets hit him in the head, killing him instantly.
Casings from the gun were later found on the nearby rooftop of the Marlboro Houses project.
Police believe that the gunman was testing out his gun by shooting cars and that Jorge was not a planned target.
