Is ‘SNL’ Live Tonight? Find Out Next Musical Guest
The third episode of “Saturday Night Live” Season 43 will bring in a major pop star. Pink will be there to perform on the Oct. 14 episode.
Though the artist (who was born Alecia Moore) has not confirmed her “SNL” set list, it’s likely that the first two singles from her new album will be played. “What About Us?” was Pink’s first release from her “Beautiful Trauma” album, which came out Friday. She also released “Whatever You Want,” the second single from the new LP, earlier this month.
Pink doesn’t just have her seventh full-length album to promote. She also has a movie. Available exclusively on Apple Music, the self-titled film is a documentary about the making of the new album. In addition, the Grammy Award winner is promoting her “Beautiful Trauma” tour, which kicks off in Phoenix, Arizona, in March. Get more details on the tour and tickets HERE.
Hopefully, everyone in the live audience at Studio 8H will enjoy the performance. Pink recently revealed to CBS News that she can always manage to find the one person at her show not having a good time.
“If there’s 10,000 people, I can pick out that one person that is the brother that had to drive his sister,” she said. “Nine-thousand, nine-hundred and ninety-nine people are having a good time, I can pick out the one that isn’t!"
While Pink has stayed on Top 40 radio pretty consistently since her debut album was released in 2000, she hasn’t appeared on “SNL” too many times. Her first appearance on the NBC sketch comedy show was in 2002 when Josh Hartnett was hosting. She returned in 2003 when Al Sharpton was hosting.
This time, a comedian will handle hosting duties. Kumail Nanjiani will be in the spotlight. The actor is most known for his work on “Silicon Valley,” but he achieved even more critical success with his indie movie “The Big Sick.” Nanjiani wrote the romantic comedy, which was based on the true story of how he and his wife fell in love.
Expect some jokes at President Donald Trump’s expense on “SNL.” Political jokes are always a staple, but both Nanjiani and Pink are vocal about their disdain for the president. Pink recently said she does not hesitate to voice her opinion on politics, even though she knows that there is backlash.
“If I take an action, I mean it, and I will take the consequences that come with that, celebrity or not,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “My husband would rather separate things. But I come from a military family. I pay taxes. I vote in every election. I educate myself on what’s going on all over the world. So why shouldn’t I have an opinion? Just because I sing? Well, that guy does air conditioning — why does he get to have an opinion?”
“Saturday Night Live” Season 43, episode 3 airs at 11: 30 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Oct. 14 on NBC.
