Is Snooki's Due Date Dec. 21, 2012, the Day Mayans Predicted the World Will End?

Rumors are flying that Snooki's due date is Dec. 21, 2012, the day Mayans predicted the world will end. Is it true?

The rumor that the Jersey Shore star (real name Nicole Polizzi)'s baby is due on 12/21/12 have set the Internet abuzz with speculation about the meaning of what would be quite the cosmic coincedence.

Dec. 21, 2012 has long been a date of interest to eschatologists (or people who study the end of the world) because of repoted references to it in ancient Mayan calendars, ancient Egyptian belief systems and early Christian texts.

An article posted on December212012.com provides some context about the hubbub surrounding 12/21/12:

The key element of interest in regard to the end-date interpretation of the Mayan long count calendar is that it converges with all the other Mayan calendars on December 21, 2012 and heralds a solstice/galactic center alignment that last took place some 13,000 odd years ago, the article states.

There are numerous interpretations of just what that all means, ranging from the belief that it will herald a new era of human understanding and oneness with the universe to a belief that it will be when Jesus Christ comes back to judge all men and leave the sinners to deal with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Hell and all that nasty biblical, fire-and-brimstone stuff.

So people have made a connection between Snooki's pregnancy and the 12/21/12 conspiracies, and taken to the Web to voice their opinions on the topic.

But it appears that Snooki's due date may likely not actually be Dec. 21, 2012, despite all the prognosticators' best attempts to make it so. A pregnant Snooki is a made-for-Twitter phenomenon, and it appears the mathmeticians weren't out in full force as the rumors started flying.

E! Online's reliable reporter Marc Malkin broke the news on Wednesday that Snooki is reportedly pregnant with boyfriend Jionni LaValle's baby:

She's about three to four months along, a source told Malkin, who could not get a comment from Snooki's P.R. people.

That doesn't exactly jive with the 12-21-12 rumors, however, as that means she would be due in five or six months, which translates to August or September. Even if she got pregnant today, nine months from now would be Dec. 1, 2012. The rumors make no real sense when you break them down thusly.

But that didn't stop the Web from going aflutter.

Twitter user @SympatiK0 tweeted the following Wednesday night, echoing the thoughts of many of her fellow celeb-watchers: Snooki is pregnant ... Damn , the Dec.21.12 theory must be true.

And Twitterer @IamJackyBlack tweeted this message on Thursday: Snooki is pregnant with a due date of December 21st, 2012. Touché, Mayans. Touché, to which user @DanGar909 responded by saying this: THE ANTI CHRIST WILL BE BORN!!!

So be prepared for talk like this to continue as word gets out that Snooki is pregnant. It seems that people will believe what they want to believe.
