Snoopy, Woodstock Will Star In Video Game Linked To 'Peanuts' Movie
With a “Peanuts” movie planned for theaters in time for the comic strip’s 65th anniversary, it’s fitting that a video game, “The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure,” is planned before the movie's release. “The Peanuts Movie” game stars Snoopy, as he goes on a grand adventure with his pal Woodstock.
In “Snoopy’s Grand Adventure,” everyone’s favorite cartoon beagle is searching for his good friend Charlie Brown in a game of hide and seek, as elaborated by IGN. Throughout the game Snoopy dons various costumes he’s worn in 65 years of “Peanuts” comics, including his iconic fighter pilot outfit.
Snoopy traverses through a host of different environments -- including castles and jungles, which can be seen in the video below -- to find Charlie and his friends. But because Snoopy is known for an overactive imagination, the jungle may actually be a garden outside Charlie’s house.
While different levels make the game seem a bit extreme, it does look like it will lead to some old-school platforming -- in a similar vein to the games seen in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). MCV reports that there will be a two-player co-op option that allows the second player to control Woodstock and distract enemies, while Snoopy jumps on their heads to take them out.
“Snoopy’s Grand Adventure” also seems to be a standalone game, though it does use a similar art style to the one seen in the upcoming film by Blue Sky. However, because the game focuses only on Snoopy and Woodstock, it seems like a safe buy for fans looking to avoid movie spoilers.
“The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure” is set for a Nov. 3 release for Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360, and Nintendo's Wii U and 3DS. The movie is set to come out in December.
