‘So You Think You Can Dance’

“So You Think You Can Dance” Season 14 will introduce the Academy round on Monday, July 10. But prior to the actual episode, FOX dropped a teaser featuring all the contestants who made it through the audition.

The almost four-minute clip opens with judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe reminding the dancers to do their best while at the Academy. All of those who received a ticket during their audition were grouped into various categories. Contemporary dancers, ballroom dancers, hip-hop and breakdancers, tap dancers and more. After completing their group routine, all of the contestants came together for one joint performance to Ben Rector’s hit song, “Brand New.”

Before the clip ended, “So You Think You Can Dance” host Cat Deeley stands in the middle of the dancers with the 10 all-stars for Season 14. The group of professional dancers included Fik-Shun, Comfort Fedoke, Jenna Johnson, Alison Holker, Robert Roldan, Gaby Diaz, Marko Germar, Paul Karmiryan, Cyrus Spencer and Jasmine Harper.

Meanwhile, there are already some standouts from the past three weeks of audition. As such, these contestants are predicted to be chosen by at least one of the 10 all-stars. Contemporary dancer Kaylee Millis made headlines after her audition not only because of her performance, but also because of the message she is trying to send across to the viewers.

While speaking with Cambridge Wicked Local, the 19-year-old dancer said, “A big thing that I stand for is being able to relate to as many different people as possible regardless of sexuality, race, how you dress, whatever, where you live. I’m really into speaking to the underdog, making sure that people understand that if you love something enough and are willing to put everything into it that the outcome sooner or later will be a success.”

Other standouts from the Season 14 auditions were Inyoung Lee, who shocked everyone with her routine, and Koine Iwasaki, whose performance tugged at the heartstrings of judges Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Vanessa Hudgens.

“So You Think You Can Dance” Season 14 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
