KEY POINTS
- Mendes has hinted at Ronaldo's retirement
- Ronaldo joined Juventus last season
- Ronaldo s contracted with Juve until 2022
Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has insisted that his client is very happy at Juventus and that he might choose to retire at the Italian club.
Ronaldo, who joined Juventus ahead of the 2018-19 season, has so far netted 39 goals in 62 appearances, including 11 in 19 games this season. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is contracted with Juventus until 2022.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Mendes said," At Juve, he is happy, there is a great coach [Maurizio Sarri]. Yes, he could end his career at Juventus. He has signed a contract."
Ronaldo's agent also mentioned that had the Portuguese stayed back at Real Madrid, he would have certainly won the Ballon d'Or this season and not Lionel Messi. He went on to say that Messi's victory was an injustice since Ronaldo even won the Nations League.
"I think that if he was still at Real Madrid, he would’ve won. He’s a champion, and he knows what to do in order to win it in 2020. Cristiano is the best player in world football. Before him, Portugal won nothing, and with him, they’ve won the European Championship and the UEFA Nations League. He transformed world football. when you speak of Portugal, you speak of a small country, but he’s changed that," Mendes added.
"Next year I think he will reach 110 goals for Portugal and I believe he will win the Ballon d’Or. For me, it was an injustice that Messi won. Ronaldo also won the UEFA Nations League. But life is like that," Ronaldo's agent said.
While he missed out on the prestigious award in France, Ronaldo grabbed the award for being the best in Italy, courtesy to his 21 goals Scudetto success with Juventus last season - his maiden season with the Bianconeri.
The 34-year-old won four out of his five Ballon d'Or awards between 2013 and 2017 - when he won each except for the 2015 edition. Messi recently surpassed Ronaldo to win record six Ballon d'Or titles.
