Sofia Vergara Blonde: 'Modern Family' Actress Shows Off Natural Hair Color [PHOTO]

“Modern Family” bombshell Sofia Vergara has gone blonde.

The star of ABC’s popular “Modern Family” sitcom may be known for her stunning curves and flowing brunette hair, but she’s actually a natural blonde. The 40-year-old actress returned to her roots on Tuesday, posting pictures of her lightened locks to her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"Blond ambitions!! Gracias to the amazing Kelly Klain," she captioned the alluring Instagram shot, referencing her hairstylist. “I’m ready for summer!”

Although she’s a natural blonde, Vergara decided to adopt her famous brunette look when she was trying to get her acting career off the ground. In a 2010 interview with Self Magazine, she described the rationale behind her decision, explaining that casting directors couldn’t match her blonde hair to her Colombian accent and perky personality.

"I'm a natural blonde, but when I started acting, I would go to auditions, and they didn't know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent -- but I had blonde hair," she told Self. "The moment I dyed my hair dark, it was, 'Oh, she's the hot Latin girl.'"

Still, Vergara doesn’t have any regrets about her brunette days.

"I loved it. I'd always felt a little 'too much' as a blonde, like a big-mouth version of Pamela Anderson. Being brunette toned me down a bit."

Either way, Vergara’s many fans won’t be complaining.
