Sofia Vergara's Former Fiancé Reacts To Joe Manganiello Engagement
Sofia Vergara is rumored to be engaged to her boyfriend of six months, “True Blood” actor Joe Manganiello. While Vergara’s former fiancé, businessman Nick Loeb, may seem like the last person to be happy about the news, he had nothing but kind things to say about the 42-year-old “Modern Family” star’s upcoming nuptials.
“She is beautiful and majestic and therefore to be loved,” Loeb, 39, told Us Weekly of Vergara’s engagement. “Beyond all else in life, she deserves happiness, the kind that only true love can bring.”
Vergara and Loeb called off their two-year engagement in May. Vergara confirmed the split on her WhoSay account, attributing the breakup to conflicting work schedules and their romance losing its “fun.”
“I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart,” she wrote. "We have being [sic] having too many problems with figuring out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore. We are still very close, but we believed [it] is the best thing for us right now.”
Two months after their split — which some reports blamed on Loeb’s alleged cheating habits — Vergara was rumored to be dating Manganiello. "Sofia is Joe's dream girl!" a source told Us Weekly at the start of their romance. "He's been smitten with her for years. He's always had a huge crush on her."
Manganiello popped the question to Vergara on Christmas Day while vacationing in Hawaii, People magazine reports. Manganiello, who celebrated his 38th birthday during the getaway, was reportedly “very nervous” about asking for the ABC star's hand in marriage. Despite his nerves, the actor is said to have been “100 percent” certain Vergara would agree to his proposal.
“I’ve never seen two people so truly in love,” a source told E! News of the couple following their engagement. “The way they talk to each other, touch each other. It’s incredible.”
While reps for the pair have yet to comment on their engagement, Vergara has celebrated her relationship on social media in recent days. “Happy happy bday to my love and best friend,” Vergara posted to her Who Say and Twitter accounts Sunday. “To the one that makes me laugh like crazy!! Have a healthy wonderful year babe!!!”
This will be the first marriage for Manganiello and the second for Vergara. She was previously wed to her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez. The couple ended their marriage after two years in 1993. They have a son together, Manolo, 22.
