Sony Reportedly Making Major PS5 Announcement This August

Sony Interactive Entertainment would reportedly make a major PS5 announcement within this month. This is apart from the earlier confirmation that the company would hold a new State of Play episode on August 6. It seems that the State of Play is not the only reveal that Sony has up its sleeve.

Major PS5 Announcement Happening In August

The latest information about another event Sony is allegedly preparing for fans of the PS5 came from Bloomberg's Takashi Mochizuki. The report cited an official at PlayStation as the source of the latest information. Takashi noted that "it is said that "Sony's next announcement regarding the PlayStation 5 is tentatively scheduled for this month."

The report did not reveal a lot of details on when the alleged PS5 announcement would happen or what it would be. Fans are hoping that Sony would finally announce the specific release date and price of its next-generation gaming console. Until now, both Sony and Microsoft have not yet announced these major details.

Earlier, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer said that while fans have a lot of unanswered questions, these would be answered in August. Spencer hinted that Microsoft would hold another event for the Xbox Series X. While the executive did not reveal the specific date or directly mentioned that there is an upcoming Xbox Series X's event, several industry insiders confirmed that it is indeed happening.

Most fans are looking forward on the official launch of the heavily-rumored cheaper version of the Xbox Series X, which is reportedly called Xbox Series S. Over the past months, rumors and leaks surrounding the more affordable next-gen gaming console have been rife online. Meanwhile, Sony Interactive Entertainment recently announced the next PS5 State Of Play schedule. In a blog post, Sony said that the next episode is happening on August 6. The post also clarified that the event would center on the games arriving on the PS VR and PS4. There would be no price, release date, pre-order, hardware, PlayStation Studios-related announcement during the State of Play, the post noted.
