SOPA Workaround Extension Informs Google Chrome Users They Are on SOPA Supporters' Websites
SOPA opponents have a new weapon to ensure they are not unwittingly contributing to the bottom lines of companies that support the Stop Online Privacy Act currently pending in the U.S. Congress.
A free, new extension for Google Chrome brings a warning message up on users' screens letting them know whenever they are on the site of a company that has declared support for SOPA.
SOPA Supporter! This company is a known supporter of the dangerous 'Stop Online Piracy Act', the message reads.
Andy Baird and Tony Webster, the extension's creators, add that users can then take whatever course of action they prefer to express their displeasure with the company that runs the website in question:
Boycott? Nasty letter time? You decide, their extension announcement says.
An add-on has also been created for the Firefox browser, which would redirect Firefox users to the IP address of any site potentially blocked if SOPA or its sister PIPA bill become law.
