'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Fans Are 'Deleting Twitter'; Here's Why [Spoilers]
The hashtag "Deleting Twitter" trended Tuesday as users decided to take a break from the social media platform to avoid seeing spoilers for the upcoming "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
Even after Sony Pictures shared a video featuring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon on Monday and requested people to not spoil the movie for others, it seems Twitter has already enough spoilers for the fans under the hashtag "SpiderManNoWayHome."
The "deleting Twitter" trend began after some users started to share snaps from the movie.
"I'll be the first to post spoilers for Spider-Man to trigger peeps," a Twitter user wrote along with a photo of Spider-Man fighting with Green Goblin.
In response to the tweet, another user shared a series of photos featuring two Spider-Man characters and a list of spoilers. The user claimed these spoilers were coming from the premiere that was held on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
The user said all three Spider-Man characters (Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) will appear in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," while the iconic villain Dr. Otto Octavius will become good and help Spider-Man at the end of the movie.
The list of spoilers also leaks information about who saved Mary Jane (popularly known as MJ).
Many "Spider-Man" fans were upset after seeing the spoilers.
One person wrote, "'Deleting Twitter' is trending because people don't want to see Spiderman spoilers in their feed. Uhmmm.... How about just not going on Twitter for a few days...?"
Another fan decided to delete the Twitter account for a day and urged fellow fans to "stay safe out there!"
"All of us deleting Twitter so we don't get Spider-Man spoiled," a fan wrote along with a video of hundreds of men running in the mountains.
Although some Twitter users suggested that fans should simply mute a particular hashtag (#SpiderManNoWayHome) in order to stay away from the spoilers.
"#DeletingTwitter is trending because people wanna avoid spoilers for the 83218th Spiderman movie. Just mute tags if it's that serious. What makes this movie any better than the others?"
"Spider-Man: No Way Home" is directed by Jon Watts and it will hit the theaters this Friday.
