'Spoils Of Babylon' Spinoff Ordered By IFC; Scoop On 'The Spoils Of Dying' Miniseries
IFC has ordered a spinoff of “The Spoils of Babylon,” titled “The Spoils of Dying,” the network announced Monday. The six-episode series will air in 2015.
“The Spoils of Babylon” was a six-episode miniseries, produced by Will Ferrell with Funny or Die, that parodied the epic television miniseries of the 1980s. Ferrell opened and closed each episode with his commentary as fictional director and author Eric Jonrosh. He will reprise the role for the spinoff.
According to IFC, “The Spoils of Dying” will take place in the jazz scene during the 1950s. The network described it as “a detective story positively buzzing with erotic charge.” A jazz pianist/detective becomes involved “in a murder investigation that spins out of control and leads him down paths – romantic and otherwise – he never expected.” Matt Piedmont and Andrew Steele will write the six episodes.
The original miniseries starred Tobey Maguire, Kristen Wiig, Tim Robbins, Jessica Alba, Val Kilmer, Haley Joel Osment and Michael Sheen. It has not been confirmed if any of these actors will be returning, but IFC did say the series would include "a new all-star cast."
“The Spoils of Dying” will premiere in 2015 on IFC. Will you watch the spinoff?
