Spotify Vs. Apple Music: Spotify Promos Launch To Compete With Streaming Rivals
Spotify is trying to attract new subscribers for 2018 by launching a special year-long promo and trial offer for its Premium subscription.
The moves come as the platform competes with Apple Music and other streaming services like Pandora and Amazon Prime Music.
With Spotify’s new promo, customers can put down a one-time payment of $99.00 and get 12 months of the Spotify Premium plan for the price of 10. After the 12 months are up, users will go back to regular prices. With the promo, customers can save about $20 off what the streaming service would normally cost for a year. The Premium plan usually costs $9.99 a month.
Those interested in the promo can visit Spotify’s site and take advantage of the deal before it expires on Dec. 31. The offer is available to users who currently have a Spotify account or people who are signing up for the first time, the promo’s terms and conditions page says. Users who are on Spotify’s current Family plan users are not eligible for the year-long deal.
Spotify is also offering an introductory trial promo. Customers can use Spotify’s Premium version by paying only $0.99 for the first three month and $9.99 for the following months. The introductory trial offer also ends on Dec. 31. The promo is not available to people who have already tried Premium. The trial promo would bring down the annual cost for the Premium plan to about $93.
What Is Spotify Premium?
With Spotify’s Premium plan, users can listen to non-stop music with no ad interruptions, have access to higher-quality streams. Users can pick any song in Spotify’s extensive library and instantly listen to it. The service comes with unlimited skips. Premium customers can also download music and listen to it on the go.
Spotify Vs. Apple Music
An Apple Music subscription costs the same as Spotify’s regular monthly fee, $9.99. While Spotify has a $0.99 three-month trial, Apple has a better deal: $0 for three months. Apple Music has a 40-million-song library and plays no ads. The subscription works easier for those who have an iPhone, since users don’t have to leave the Music app and can access their iTunes library in the same location. The Apple Music service also allows users to download songs and listen to them while offline. Apple Music is connected to Siri, which means users can request songs and listen to it by asking the voice assistant. The streaming service is also connected with the Apple Watch for easy access during workouts.
Besides the individual $9.99 monthly plan, Apple Music currently offers two other options, a $4.99 a month plan for students and a $14.99 a month family plan.
Apple has been doing well with Apple Music. The streaming service saw a 75 percent year-over-year increase in subscriptions, Apple said in its Q4 2017 earnings call last month.
