Fullei Fresh has issued a recall for its bean sprouts and soy sprouts due to possible exposure to listeria contamination.

The affected sprouts were harvested and shipped to distributors from Sept. 14 to Oct. 5 and include lots ranging from 251 to 271, which can be identified on the retail packages and cardboard box barcodes.

The recalled lots were both conventional and organic bean sprouts and soy sprouts grown and packed in separate departments at Fullei Fresh.

The conventional bean sprouts were sold in 8-ounce, 5-pound bulk, and 10-pound bulk containers, while the organic bean sprouts were sold in 4-ounce and 5-pound bulk containers. The soy sprouts were sold in 5-pound and 10-pound packages.

Labels of the recalled sprouts can be viewed here.

Fullei Fresh is urging consumers who have the possibly contaminated sprouts in their possession to discard them.

Listeria can cause serious and, in some instances, fatal infections in young children, elderly adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may suffer miscarriages and stillbirths.

The company said it has not received any reports of illnesses related to the recall of these products.
