St. Louis Cop Shooting: 1 Dead Near Ferguson, Missouri, In Police-Involved Incident

UPDATE 3:42 a.m. EDT: Dotson said more than one officer fired their guns at the suspect. He said the cops were placed on administrative duty "per department policy."
Officers gave suspect verbal commands. Officers feared for their safety and both officers fired their weapons. Suspect is deceased.

Officer involved shooting in the sixth district. Suspect brandished knife at @slmpd officers. No officers injured. Investigation is ongoing.

Police shot and killed a person in St. Louis Tuesday, just 11 miles from Ferguson, Missouri, where protesters have voiced their anger and frustration in the killing of unarmed black teen Michael Brown by a white police officer.
St. Louis ABC-affiliate KSDK reported Tuesday’s officer-involved shooting, but had few details. The shooting occurred in North St. Louis, KSDK said. Chief Sam Dotson said the victim brandished a knife, KMOV, St. Louis, reported.
Brown, 18, was shot and killed by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson Aug. 9 in an incident that sparked national outrage.
