'Stalcraft': How To Get Aluminum Cables And Copper Wires
KEY POINTS
- Aluminum cables and copper wires are found in hidden caches around certain map regions
- Players need metal detectors to find hidden caches
- A free metal detector is given as part of the main quest
The grind for loot never ends in "Stalcraft," and it only gets more complicated once players venture further out from the starting bases in the swamps.
Apart from the usual materials that drop from monsters and NPCs, players will eventually need to gather additional items in order to get better gear from traders. Aluminum cables and copper wires are two of the earliest extra materials that people need early in "Stalcraft," and they can be a little hard to find. Here's how to get them.
Step 1: Grab a Metal Detector
Unlike roots and seeds, cables and wires can't just be picked up from dead NPCs or looted from hideout chests. Instead, these are dug up from hidden caches that can only be found while a metal detector is equipped.
A basic Pancake metal detector can be purchased from Cordon base vendors relatively cheaply. However, there's a much better version, the Leglet detector, that'll be given to players for free once they finish the first story mission in the Dump area.
Getting the Leglet is highly recommended as it comes with a small screen that indicates where caches are buried.
Step 2: Visit Farming Spots
Aluminum cables can be dug up around the Agroprom and Dark Valley regions of the map. The former is for Bandits, while the latter is for Stalkers. Meanwhile, copper wire can be found in the Dump, though be aware that both sides constantly have firefights here.
Generally, caches can be found around large anomaly fields or areas with buildings like villages, facilities and warehouses. Check out the many "Stalcraft" interactive maps on the internet to get a clearer picture of these spots.
Head to any of the viable spots and start running around. Wait for the metal detector to beep before equipping it so as not to waste any battery charge. Go toward wherever the Leglet detector points until an interactable mound of dirt becomes visible. Dig up the cache and claim its contents.
This treasure-hunting loop will also apply to the unique materials needed for gear sold at the Bar in Rostok. However, to get higher-tier equipment, players will have to start collecting a larger variety of barter items from deeper inside the Zone.
