'Star Wars Battlefront 2': EA Gives First Look At Heavy Trooper Class
Electronic Arts has given the first official look at the Heavy Trooper class for “Star Wars Battlefront 2.” The video game publisher also shared a couple of images of the Heavy Trooper class showing a First Order Stormtrooper and a Separatist Battle Droid.
The Heavy Troopers in “Star Wars Battlefront 2” will have a skill-set that’s focused more on powerful attacks in order to overpower foes or simply provide cover for teammates. This is also reflected with the class’ two abilities.
The first Heavy Trooper ability is Combat Shield. This has actually been featured during EA’s first multiplayer preview back at E3. This ability will allow users to activate a small forward-facing shield that protects the player, while having an opening to fire the player’s main weapon. This could be used to push back enemy forces, or simply be used for a more defensive tactic.

The second ability is Sentry. This ability is described as a medium-range combat mode where players can deploy a heavy repeating blaster that can cause massive damage. In exchange for the additional firepower, players will have severely limited movement. This could help players defend their objectives and fight off invading forces.
“When it comes to the Heavy, that means focused firepower with heavy weapons,” EA explained on the PlayStation Blog. “Whether you need to lay down a rain of suppression fire, hold the line near a capture point, or brute-force your way through a narrow corridor, the Heavy is uniquely qualified to pull this off thanks to their two primary abilities.”
EA also made it clear on its blog post that the Heavy Trooper and all other classes will follow the same rules and will work the same across different “Star Wars” eras. This means that the Heavy Trooper’s two abilities will be the same even if a user is playing as an Imperial Stormtrooper, Republic Clone Trooper, Rebel Alliance Soldier or as a Separatist Battle Droid.
The video game publisher also shared a couple of first look images of what the Heavy Trooper class will look like for First Order Stormtroopers from “The Force Awakens” and Separatist Battle Droids from the “Star Wars” prequels.
“While combat tactics between classes might not change a ton over the years, the troopers themselves will visually adapt to fit into their situation in Star Wars Battlefront 2,’” EA said. With classes following the same rules regardless of eras, this ensures that the playing field will remain even, as pointed out by GamesRadar.

“Star Wars Battlefront 2” will feature four distinct classes for multiplayer modes, but EA has only detailed the Heavy trooper so far. The other three classes are Officer, which provides support for the rest of the team; Assault, which pushes through the enemy lines; and Specialist, which are described as “tricksters” of the battlefield for deploying traps and sniping enemies.
The return of classes in “Star Wars Battlefront 2” is part of EA and developer DICE’s efforts in resolving the issues from 2015’s “Battlefront.” This also includes adopting skill-based progression system and the inclusion of a single-player story mode.
“Star Wars Battlefront 2” is scheduled to be released on Nov. 17 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC.
