Was the Dark Rey (Daisy Ridley) tease of “Star Wars: Episode 9” a planned misdirection by director JJ Abrams? Not according to Ridley. The actress spoke about the scene in a recent interview, and confirmed that it was real.

The most talked about scene in the recently released D23 footage is the one where Rey is seen wearing a dark robe and carrying a double bladed red lightsaber. Speculation is rife about this scene, with some fans suggesting that this is a part of a Force Vision while others believe that the character will turn to the Dark Side in the movie.

In an interview with Yahoo, Ridley talked about the Dark Rey scene and gave the impression that her character will be tempted to use the Dark Side. The actress asked the fans to draw their own conclusions based on the evidence presented on the screen. However, she added that “there’s no smoke without fire.”

Ridley isn’t allowed to share any spoilers about “Star Wars: Episode 9.” The actress shared her excitement and said that the fans should wait and see what the director and co-writer Chris Terrio have created. She added that the film is “really impressive,” and it has a “fitting ending” to the saga.

Another big reveal in the D23 video was C-3PO (Antony Daniels) who has bright red eyes. The character previously appeared with a red arm, and Daniels took to Twitter to joke about his character’s new look.

While the change to C-3PO may only look superficial, the character will play an important role in the upcoming film. In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Ridley said that she filmed many scenes with Daniels and the droid feels like he is a part of the new adventure.

“Star Wars: Episode 9” will be released on Dec. 20.
