'Star Wars: Episode 9' Leaks: How The Ending Connects All Trilogies
The title of “Star Wars: Episode 9” has been revealed to be “Rise of Skywalker.” While many believe that the title hints at Rey (Daisy Ridley) becoming a Jedi Master, a new theory suggested that there may be another explanation. Leaks also hinted at how the ending of the film will have a big connection to the title and connect all three trilogies of the franchise.
The following article contains spoilers of “Star Wars: Episode 9.”
According to a theory by Screen Rant, the Skywalker in the title is not a reference to Rey. Instead, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and his father, Anakin, may return in order to kill Palpatine.
The theory pointed out that in the “Star Wars” canon, the Emperor found a way to cheat death, which opens the door for his return in the upcoming film.
The final battle between Palpatine, Luke and Anakin will also connect all the nine movies of the franchise. The sequel trilogy was about the Chosen One who was supposed to bring balance to the Force. This was accomplished in the original trilogy with the death of the Emperor. However, the task defeating Palpatine permanently may only be accomplished in “Star Wars: Episode 9.”
The first teaser trailer of the upcoming film teased the return of the Emperor. However, Ian McDiarmid hinted that he is not a part of the new film.
How will the Emperor return of McDiarmid is not reprising his role? According to leaks published by Making Star Wars, Matt Smith is playing the role of a Sith acolyte whose body is possessed by Palpatine’s spirit in “Star Wars: Episode 9.” The final duel is reportedly between Palpatine on the once side, and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey on the other.
