'Star Wars: Episode 9': Rian Johnson Wants The Unexpected From JJ Abrams
After getting mixed response from the audience for his film, Rian Johnson is prepared to just sit back and enjoy “Star Wars: Episode 9.” In a recent interview, the “Last Jedi” director spoke about is discussions with JJ Abrams and what he wants in the upcoming film.
In an interview with MTV News, Johnson said that he hasn’t seen the script or any footage of “Star Wars: Episode 9,” but he has had a few conversations with Abrams. Johnson is eager to watch the film with his box of popcorn like any other fan when the upcoming movie hits the theaters.
Johnson said that he wants to sit back and be entertained by the upcoming film. The director said that he wants to be “surprised” and “thrilled” by the film.
“I want him to do stuff that I wasn’t expecting him to do,” Johnson said about Abrams.
Johnson is also working on his own “Star Wars” project, and he teased in the interview that he and his team are working on it. The director didn’t share any details about what his project will be about, but more details about the next set of films from the franchise may be announced after “Star Wars: Episode 9” is released.
Expectations are high about the upcoming film because it is not only the last film in the sequel trilogy, it is also the film to mark the end of the Skywalker saga.
Among the things that are expected to happen in the film are the defeat of the First Order, Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) return to the Light Side of the Force, and Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) return as a Force Ghost, Screen Rant reported. The film is also expected to shed light on the mysterious group known as the Knights of Ren.
The first trailer of “Star Wars: Episode 9” is expected to be released this month. Among the things that are expected in the teaser are the first look at Luke as the Force Ghost, the return of Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), and a look at some of the major battles in the film, Making Star Wars reported.
