'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': Supreme Leader Snoke Has 'Strange Vulnerability'; Luke Skywalker Hasn't Been Forgotten
More details about the main villain of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have surfaced online. The character has some “strange vulnerability,” Andy Serkis revealed in a recent interview. Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams talked about Luke Skywalker in another interview.
Serkis revealed that Supreme Leader Snoke has a “huge agenda” and has “suffered a lot of damage,” EmpireOnline reported. The actor described his character as being “quite powerful,” but at the same time there will be a “strange vulnerability” to the character.
Talking about how the character looks in the movie, Serkis said that he only had “rough notions” about what the character will look like in the movie before filming and that the look of the character only evolved after he started filming his scenes. The CGI character was created using motion capture technology that requires Serkis to wear a special suit, which helps capture his movements and facial expressions.
Serkis revealed that the technology allowed experts to make multiple changes to the look of the character. The actor said that while Abrams was working on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in Los Angeles; he was in London at his studio The Imaginarium, where he was able to see his character “grow and change.”
So far, only a picture of Serkis in the motion capture suit has been released by the producers. There is still no official picture of the actual character in the movie. Another character from the movie who hasn’t been seen in any of the trailers or the promo pictures of the movie is Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
“No one forgot about him,” Abrams said in an interview with EntertainmentWeekly. The director explained that although Luke has not been seen in the main poster of the movie, he is still an “important aspect of the story.”
The report points out that rather than asking where Luke Skywalker is, the fans perhaps should be asking - who is Luke Skywalker? Yoda had said in the original trilogy that if Luke were to end his training abruptly, he would become an agent of evil. That, however, did not happen in the trilogy and Luke was able to bring a balance to the Force.
After the deaths of the Emperor and Luke’s father, will the last known Jedi turn evil in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”? It is still not clear how Luke dealt with the events from the original trilogy and what he has been doing over the years.
