A set of movie stills of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” have leaked online. The pictures show the face of the ailing Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) in what appears to be a scene before the final battle against Rey (Daisy Ridley).
The following article contains spoilers of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
After the fall in the second Death Star, the Emperor managed to survive. Leaked pictures of the upcoming movie posted on Reddit show Palpatine strapped to a mechanical device that is supposed to be keeping him alive.
One of the pictures show the device that looks like a holocron. This may be the device that holds the map to the Sith Lord’s location. The trailers of the film have already revealed that location to be some sort of a cave beneath a planet surface, where Palpatine has built himself a stone throne.
Another still from the movie, which may be from the last scene in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” shows Rey wielding a new lighsaber. The Jedi gets a yellow lighsaber with a unique handle.
Meanwhile, the opening crawl of the movie has also leaked on Making Star Wars. The opening crawl sets the stage for the movie by explaining the recent events in the galaxy. The Emperor is back from the dead, and he has released a mysterious broadcast across the galaxy.
With Palpatine back to seek his revenge, General Leia (Carrie Fisher) will send secret agents to gather intelligence. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) too will go in search of the Emperor because he doesn’t want anyone challenging his leadership of the First Order.
Cast member John Boyega, who is reprising his role as Finn, also shared a video of the opening crawl of the movie on his Instagram page. The fans, however, quickly noticed that this was a fake.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” will be released on Dec. 20.
