While the fans obsess about how Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) will return in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and what he will do, there is another major villain whose backstory will be explored in the movie. Snoke (Andy Serkis) continues to be a mysterious character, and a leaked scene description has revealed what that backstory is.

The following article contains spoilers of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”

According to a leaked scene description posted on Making Star Wars, the first meeting between Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Palpatine will also reveal who Snoke was. The meeting will take place on the dead planet of Exegol, where the former Emperor will be seen hiding in an underground base with a few of his loyal followers.

As Kylo Ren makes his way to Palpatine’s room, he will see some creatures tending to capsules or barrels that have been described as The Relics. Here, he will see bodies of several Snokes. Since the Supreme Leader is dead, the implication in this leaked scene is that the character has always been a clone.

The revelation that Snoke was a clone in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” means that Palpatine was instrumental in the rise of the First Order, and he has been manipulating the events behind the scenes. Was the former Supreme Leader a vessel for the Sith Lord?

There has been a lot of mystery about Snoke ever since the character was introduced. Serkis previously said in an interview with Conan that his character being a leader liked this air of mystery around him, and he used it to appear more powerful. In another interview, the actor said that his character was motivated by fear in “The Last Jedi” because the First Order was in danger.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” has been directed by JJ Abrams. The movie will be released on Dec. 20.
