There may be a new Yoda-like character in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” The alien species that the Jedi Master belonged to live hundreds of years, which means the new character will play a significant role in the future movies.

The following article contains spoilers from “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and “The Mandalorian” TV series.

A baby alien that belongs to the same species as Yoda was introduced in “The Mandalorian” TV series. According to Making Star Wars, the character may be connected to some of the events and characters in the upcoming movie.

The TV shows is set at a time when the Empire falls and there is lawlessness and chaos across the galaxy. The remnant forces of the Empire want a baby that belongs to the Yoda species, and this young character is a Force sensitive.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the introduction of the character referred to as Baby Yoda is so important that it has to at least get a mention in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” The fact that the baby is a Force sensitive, and people in the galaxy know about it puts a target on its back, and this thread has to be tied off.

The upcoming film will have to explain why Snoke (Any Serkis) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) didn’t go after the Baby Yoda and instead focused their efforts on Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Rey (Daisy Ridley). One possibility is that the baby was hidden away to ensure its safety.

The live action TV series is expected to finally give a name to the alien species that Yoda belonges to. The show has also established that this species is naturally powerful in the use of the Force, which may be because of a high concentration of midi-chlorians in their blood.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is also rumored to explore the concept of midi-chlorians.
