'Starfield' Release Reportedly Imminent; Ad Time Already Scheduled
KEY POINTS
- "Starfield" was announced at E3 2018
- The game is confirmed to release ahead of Bethesda's "Elder Scrolls 6"
- So far, Bethesda has not yet revealed the specific release date of "Starfield"
A new release window for the new space-faring title "Starfield" has been leaked online. And, if the latest leak is anything to go by, it appears that fans won't have to wait long for the announcement and release of the new IP from Bethesda.
Reliable industry insider and editor of XboxEra Nick "Shpeshal Ed" Baker claimed sources informed him that Microsoft already purchased ad space for "Starfield." He noted that the upcoming game is set to release in 2021. The leak also revealed that Microsoft is "eager" for Bethesda to release the space-faring title in the nearest future.
On his podcast, Ed mentioned, "If you think logically about when they would have bought this ad time, it would have been during the pandemic. So if they're buying ad time for a game to come out in 2021, during the pandemic, then obviously they must be aware of something we're not."
Ed's claim seemingly aligns with Jeff Grubb's recent tweet.
The VentureBeat video game journalist noted that sources in Microsoft want Bethesda to showcase "Starfield" within this year. If these claims are true, the game is more likely to release later this year or in early 2022. Aside from those, more leaks about Bethesda's upcoming title surfaced online. On Twitter, insider IdleSloth shared a couple of images, which appear to be the game's art.
The said images were reportedly uncovered through the Bethesda CDN and have apparently originated from Bethesda.net source code. Unfortunately, the leaker who originally shared the images deleted the post. But, the Internet had already gotten a copy of the post before it was taken down.
The leaked "Starfield" images are not that interesting, but they showed what seems like a space station, multiple space ships and an object that looks like a watch. What makes these leaked images interesting is that they align with earlier leaked screenshots of the game. This gives both leaks a little bit of credence.
Neither Bethesda nor Microsoft has commented on the insiders' claim about the game's announcement and release window and on the leaked images.
"Starfield" is currently in development.
