Tesla vehicle owners could soon play their favorite Steam games on electric vehicle's screen according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The tech billionaire revealed that testing to make Steam games playable on the screens of future Tesla electric vehicles is ongoing. Musk replied to the tweet of the official Twitter account of "Cyberpunk 2077" recently, praising it and calling it a "great game."

IGN's Ryan McCaffrey responded to Musk's tweet and asked the timeline of the game's updated version releasing on Tesla vehicles. Musk revealed that early plans to bring the entire Steam platform to Tesla cars are already underway.

"New Model S/X version of Cyberpunk when," McCaffrey asked to which Musk replied saying, "We’re working through the general case of making Steam games work on a Tesla vs specific titles. Former is obviously where we should be long-term."

While it is not yet known when exactly Tesla plans to roll out its Steam initiative on future electric vehicles, the fact that Musk is interested in it makes it worth noting. The American electric vehicle maker first introduced in-car gaming in 2019 by bringing in "Cuphead."

Since then, the list of games playable on the Tesla EV screen has grown to include almost 20 titles. But with the arrival of Steam games, gamers using Tesla Arcade will soon have access to tens of thousands of video games available on the platform.

Tesla's updated infotainment system features a 17-inch display and houses the AMD Navi 23 graphics. The company has maintained to keep the details of the AMD GPU under wraps but rumors have it that it features around 28 Compute Units clocked up at 2.8 GHz.

If rumors are accurate, then Tesla's infotainment system can deliver up to 10 teraflops of computing power. This is not far from the 10.28 teraflops computing power Sony PS5 boasts of.

As for the release of the updates on Tesla vehicles, Musk has not yet revealed the specific timeline. But, there is a high possibility that these updates will roll out in the Tesla Arcade of Model S and Model X sometime in 2023.
