KEY POINTS

  • "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert will host another live election night special on Showtime
  • Charlamagne Tha God and the hosts of Showtime’s "The Circus" will appear as guests
  • Colbert's 2016 election special on Showtime was nominated for three Primetime Emmys

Talk show host Stephen Colbert is set to front Showtime's live election night special for the upcoming presidential election on Nov. 3.

The special, titled “Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand: Building Back America Great Again Better 2020,” will see the talk show host bringing all the latest updates without advertising, Deadline first reported.

This will be Colbert’s second live election special for the network. In 2016, the Emmy-winning star hosted “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t?” and earned mixed reviews.

Talking about this year’s special, Colbert joked, “It is going to be a great night although my therapist has reminded me America has to want to change.”

According to Deadline, the election special will be shot live from Colbert’s “virtual underground political bunker” and will include guests such as Charlamagne Tha God and the hosts of Showtime’s “The Circus,” Alex Wagner, John Heilemann and Mark McKinnon.

Colbert’s upcoming live election special on Showtime will start at 11 p.m. EDT on Nov. 3.

The special that aired in 2016 went on to receive three Primetime Emmy nominations, including outstanding variety special. It was also nominated for outstanding writing for a variety special and outstanding directing in the star-studded ceremony that took place in 2017.

The news comes a few days after Deadline reported that Colbert will be joining Sen. Kamala Harris for a reception fundraiser for the Biden Victory Fund. The proceeds from the event will directly go to the fund, which is a joint fundraising effort between Joe Biden's presidential campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state parties.

A number of celebrities, including Colbert, have come forward to support Biden for the upcoming election. Notable personalities like Taylor Swift, Dwayne Johnson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jon Stewart, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Hudson, Don Cheadle and many others have backed Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.

Swift recently told V Magazine that she’ll be voting for Biden because the country needs a president who can make people of color feel “safe.”

“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs,” Swift said.
