Stephen Curry's parents are getting a divorce.

Sonya, 55, and Dell Curry, 58, announced this week that they have decided to go their separate ways and end their 33-year marriage. The two have been separated for months, and Sonya filed for divorce in North Carolina in June.

"After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family's continued happiness," Sonya and Dell said in a joint statement to People.

They continued, "We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward."

In addition to the Warriors superstar, the pair, who met at Virginia Tech University and wed in 1988, also shares Philadelphia 76ers player Seth Curry and daughter Sydel Curry, a former college volleyball player.

TMZ was the first to report about Dell and Sonya's divorce. The outlet noted that the reason for the split is unclear, and the divorce is still ongoing.

Dell was in the NBA from 1986 until 2002. He played for several teams, including the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. In his nearly two-decade career in the league, he played as the Charlotte Hornets' star guard for 10 seasons.

Since 2009, he has served as a color commentator on Charlotte Hornets television broadcasts.

Meanwhile, Sonya was a star volleyball player in high school and college in Virginia. She ran a Christian Montessori School and raised their family in Charlotte. She is present in most of her sons Stephen and Seth's NBA games.

In May 2019, Stephen and Seth made history when they became the first pair of brothers to face off against each other in the Western Conference Finals, according to Complex.

According to Stephen, their parents flipped a coin to decide on which side to support. His mom arrived wearing a Portland Trail Blazers jersey, while his dad donned a Golden State Warriors jersey. However, whenever Stephen and Seth took a shot, both Sonya and Dell would cheer on their sons, regardless of the jersey they wore.

"They can’t help themselves so anytime either one of us did something good they both were clapping, so they gotta fix themselves," Stephen joked. "I told my mom, ‘Who you with?’ When I made a shot I saw her stand up and cheer, but I saw all Portland gear. It was just weird."
