Steve Bing, who took his own life on June 22 by jumping from his 27th-floor apartment, allegedly left notes for his two kids.
“Extra’s” Billy Bush reported that the 55-year-old mogul wrote a letter each to Damian, his 18-year-old son with Elizabeth Hurley, and Kira Kerkorian, 21, his child with tennis player Lisa Bonder. However, the contents of the notes were not disclosed.
“One note for each kid,” the reporter said, citing mutual pals who lived in the same building as Bing.
According to Page Six, Bing didn’t have an ideal relationship with his children. It can be remembered that the media mogul didn’t accept that he was the father of these kids until DNA tests proved otherwise.
Despite this, Hurley revealed that she became close to Bing again after he had contacted her during their son’s birthday. Damian, meanwhile, took to social media to express his gratitude to everyone who reached out to them after news of his dad's suicide broke.
“This is a very strange and confusing time and I’m immensely grateful to be surrounded by my phenomenal family and friends,” Damian wrote.
Bush also said that his and Bing’s mutual friends were shocked by the suicide and added that the lockdown has taken a toll on the film producer.
“Another source told me he was very depressed. Close friends are shocked at his death. Sources told Extra he suffered from bipolar disorder,” Bush said.
This checks out with another Page Six report that quoted sources who said that Bing has been “through a dark time” over the past years. He was also described as “the most charming, caring and generous guy [one] could ever meet.”
The insider said that Bing had bipolar disorder, and although his circle was saddened by his death, they weren’t surprised after learning about it. The source further claimed that the mogul had a drug problem, but it was the mental health problems that "tormented" him.
Bing also didn’t have a strong relationship with his children, the insider said, which made him sad. Toward the end, he also struggled with financial problems due to bad investments.
Bing inherited $600 million from his real estate developer grandfather, which prompted him to drop out of Stanford. The insider said that he blew the money prior to his death because he was too generous.
